LAN disconnects whenever using Files

Hi, I have a real bizarre problem. When I try to do something with files (copy/move/alter..) on my NAS, random LAN disconnections happen with different errors as a result. NAS and IMAC (M1) are connected on the same switch.

When I remove the switch (simple unmanaged switch - tried several but same problem) and connect them directly on my router, the problem disappears. I don't have that problem with Monterey so the only logical explanation would be that there is a bug in Ventura. Anybody experienced that same behavior? Reported it to Apple but no feedback yet.

Hi wdbbel,

From your post, the disconnects only occur when the NAS is accessed through an unmanaged network switch, and only on the latest version of macOS. Therefore there are still a couple of components that could be responsible, or a combination of the two.

A couple of things you may consider trying include:

1) Connect the NAS to a managed switch, to determine if the technology of the unmanaged switch may be causing collisions or failure

2) Test with your Ventura Mac while started in safe mode per How to use safe mode on your Mac to isolate other possible software or setting based factors

3) If you're not able to isolate the specific cause or combination of factors concretely, contact Apple Support directly via Get Support to investigate further.

Regards.
