My new secondary display says no signal detected. what is wrong?

More information on your setup will be needed to offer direct suggestions for this situaiton.


A good place to start is reviewing Connect one or more external displays with your Mac which covers a variety of options for using external displays with a Mac.


You'll also want to check out Apple - Support - Technical Specifications to find your model of MacBook (per the Community category you posted to) and verify display support and connection methods. The 2010 model MacBook for instance lists DVI, VGA, and HDMI as connection options per MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications. If you're attempting to connect a display using other methods or adapters, it may not work.


If all of those are correct, If you can’t see your Mac desktop on an external display offers additional steps to take that may resolve the problem.
