Hello, perhaps we can help...
We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...
EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info.
Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…
Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

Okay, the first thing to do is to back your computer ASAP. Please do this before anything else!!!!
I suspect the HD in the computer is failing. The reason I think this is your report indicates:
" Hard drive too slow - The hard drive in this computer is too slow."
After you have done a backup, then download the free version of DriveDX. Then run it and if ANY errors appear that simply confirms my hunch the HD is failing.
At that point, your options are to take it to an independent Apple Authorized Service Provider to have the HD replaced. I don't recommend that considering the computer is 8 years old and the repair would cost more than the computer is worth. I would recommend replacing the computer with a new 24" iMac or consider one of the many other models of Macs available that may suit your needs and budget.
Big chunks of the EtreCheck repot failed to post. Use the Additional Text tool for the entire report and Please do not select the text before pasting.
This is a root cause of slowness:
Hardware Information:

1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 (i5-5250U) CPU: 2-core

You have the crippled educational/institutional iMac marketed to bulk buyers needing a cheaper price. It has a slow 1.6ghz two-core laptop-class processor; the regular consumer entry-level iMac 4K had a proper 4-core desktop-class processor running at minumum at 3.1 ghz. The difference in benchmarks scores is staggering:
That is not fixable but other options may let you use the computer longer.
We'll have to see the rest of the report with drive scores to make further recommendations that do not include "get a new computer."
Do either of these show HD trouble...
You can use Drive DX to possibly get a better view of Drive health…

Thanks to Jack-19…
It may be wise to run SMART Utility to check the drives' health.
Delete these files & restart...
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.ccxprocess.plist
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.adobe.AdobeCreativeCloud.plist
Your HD is failing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please use Time Machine to backup ASAP to an External Hard Disk with nothing on it. THIS SHOULD BE YOUR #1 priority or you may lose all of your data.
You don't want to delete anything nor waste any time, get an external drive & see if you can clone what you have...
Carbon Copy Cloner should accomplish it...
Please read and follow the directions in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant. Failure to follow the directions means your migration may not be successful!
If you are using the Mercury Elite Pro (great drive) as a Time Machine backup, simply plug it in and ensure the Mac sees it. Then click the Time Machine icon in the upper right of the display and click "Back up Now".
can i back yo to my iCloud 2gb account.
or
My external hard drive has data on it presently. How can I erase data to use it as Time Machine full backup
Any solutions for failing hard drive short of buying new
I erased my SSD external and it was then recognized as a Time Machine back up. I am presently backing up entire internal disk.
just purchased a 2023 24” iMac with 8 core GPU CPU 512 storage
any suggestions in migration and also how to auto eliminate duplicate files on back up data
+1 on posting your EtreCheck report!!
i have a mercury elite pro connected now. How can I use that to back up data. Again I am a senior who sometimes forgets what I learned before
I installed Monterey and same issues. Plus through all this found my external SSD drive was disconnected. Upon reconnecting Time Machine won't recognize it/ Full report added to Additional text
