I bought an IPhone when I was living in Canada, and am now living in Portugal, does my AppleCare warranty still work out here? How would I get my device repaired, does it need to be shipped to Canada? There don’t seem to be actual Apple stores out here, only resellers.

Sorry, but AppleCare applies to the country of purchase. If you need service, Apple may require you to take the phone back to Canada for service. You can't ship it to Apple from Portugal as Apple doesn't accept international shipment. You could send it to a friend or family member in Canada and they can take it to Apple for service.

You may be able to have some minor services performed and covered by it, screen or battery replacement for example, but anything else will have to be done in the country where the device was originally sold.
