Ah that's the big snag in general. You shouldn't.

Merging Apple accounts (IDs) or transferring data is not officially supported. Read the links below for things you may need to do to transfer as much as is possible and to share some others.

Apps and media bought with one ID are permanently associated with that ID. Look into using Family Sharing to continue to be able to use items purchased with one Apple ID with other Apple IDs, and for some data sharing features.

If you have signed into the first ID on a device then fortunately when you sign out of that ID, do not erase the device, then sign in with a different ID, it asks you in most cases if you wish to merge the data from the two IDs on your device. Once you switch to another Apple ID the information associated with the old Apple ID will be gone except for physical content on the device like photos and videos." Also turn off storage optimization before doing this. With Optimize Storage, smaller, space-saving photos and videos are kept on your device while all of your original, full-resolution versions are stored in iCloud. Apple's mobile devices are designed for a single user at any one time. There are a few limited places where a second ID can be used for very specific purposes.

1. In Mail if you want to use a different iCloud account. Settings -> mail -> accounts -> add account -> iCloud

2. Messages and Facetime. Sign into a different Apple ID for these services in Settings. Note this has to be the same ID for both. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, and make sure both your telephone number and Apple ID are input there and both show a checkmark. If you need more help, check out this link: Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime - Apple Support .

3. In the support article: If you subscribe to Apple One and use a different Apple ID for iCloud - Apple Support Apple alludes to using a different Apple ID for media subscriptions and purchases but doesn't describe how to do this.

In iOS/iPadOS: Go to Settings > [your Apple ID] > Media & Purchases. Sign out of your current ID and sign in with a different one.

In Ventura: First, quit Settings. Then, in App Store, choose “Sign Out” in the Store menu, then click on the “sign in” button that appears in the main window. You can then sign into the other account. ( Using different Apple ID for media & … - Apple Community )

4. Use a different Apple ID to share purchases with Family Sharing

Note that unless you know what you are doing, trying to use more than one ID can have unexpected consequences.

My real issue is the on-line game Rummikub. It will only allow one Rummikub account per apple id. So, i created a second account only to be able to use Rummikub with two different users. So, I want to be play rummikub on one device while my spouse plays on a second device. Currently, we share the same apple ID
