Large System Data

My system data is taking up 154GB of storage. Which has been creating issues for me. After some research I discovered that 141 GB is in "Group containers" and 140 GB is in a file called "today.sqite-wal". I know I'm not supposed to delete it but is there a way that I can pear down that file without deleting it? Like its too big for my computer to even open it. How do I gain access to all that storage?

Also note my storage space is only 250GB so the file is taking up more than half of my storage

"Group containers" is a folder of, well, group containers. "today.sqlite-wal" is a database that belongs to some app. The folder directly underneath "Group containers" that contains "today.sqlite-wal" will tell you what app is responsible.

As long as you intend to delete the app and never use it again, or start fresh, then you can safely delete those containers. The only problem would be if you deleted one of those containers and then tried to use the app, expecting it to still have any of your previous data.

You must have a program that created this large file on your computer... Maybe delete and reload the program? Or contact the software company.

Thanks I deleted it because I no longer have the app. It was under the name of the creator of the app which I thought was weird. Thanks for your help.

my system data is now 75 % of my storage. What can I do to minimise it?
