low volume in ALL map apps when using CarPlay

Since the IOS 16 update came out, the volume is extremely low for all of my map apps (Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze) when using CarPlay. I know that the adjustment for Low, Normal, Loud disappeared in an earlier update and was replaced with the ability to simply use the volume buttons on your phone, but even that isn’t working. I also know that I have to adjust the volume when a route is active. Turning up the car volume does not do anything to the map volume. I have deleted and reinstalled the apps, gone into the settings to adjust the volume, and nothing is working. I even asked Siri to change the volume but she told me she could not. I take frequent road trips and need to be able to hear the navigation. Help!
