MacBook Air M2 And Speakers issue (Video Conferencing)

Hi guys,

I purchased a MacBook Air M2 last month, March 2023.

  1. Great machine but speakers are such a disappointment.
  2. Speakers are at 75% output.
  3. Pretty much clean machine nothing installed on it.

Generally sound is kind of flat and missing richness which is expected. I never intended to listen music anyways with them.

But I am doing Zoom Calls on a daily basis and quite often - most of the times in the beginning of the meetings - the people from the other side as they start to speak, my speakers kind of break and introduce crackling noises in their speech and I am struggling to hear them.

For such an expensive machine that's so disappointing. Is that a defect that has been acknowledged?

Thanks,

Panos

Audio Midi Setup utility lets you manage the built-in audio output. Some frequencies are really too high to be used for stereo. Within the first two years resetting the PRAM can frequently fix these issues automatically.

44.1 kHz is the best rate for stereophonic sound. If you have built-in headphone ports they support 5.1 audio through mini-toslink connectors with higher frequencies.
