why is the mic nit on by default with screen recording

Ok, Apple. Here is some feedback:

Please turn on the mic by default when screen recording. I would really like this setting on by default. I imagine that most people want audio with their video when they make a screen recording.

If I have to ask a question here:

Why is the mic not on by default when making a screen recording?

How to capture the audio from my screen recording while excluding external audio from me or my surroundings? This is my first time of trying to screen record using QuickTime. I'm trying to exclude external audio from me or my surroundings but when I select 'None' from the Microphone option, no audio is recorded at all. Even from the content on my screen. How to resolve disappearing voiceover results in Final Cut Pro? Tried to record a voiceover in FCPX and I have tried every microphone I have and it shows that it is recording the sound but when I click end voiceover, the whole voiceover result disappears. I’ve played with the settings, tried different microphones, even creating a new event and project to try and it’s the same result. The voiceover disappears. Last time this happened I had to reboot the whole app and have it forget my preferences and it worked. This time after the reboot, it still didn’t work. Send your suggestion directly to Apple, as they may or may not read it here: Product Feedback - Apple

Pending any changes to the iPad Screen Recording UI, you will have to manually select audio when recording.

We can’t answer the “why”, but I’d suspect it’s because audio recording was added, and the existing screen recordings didn’t also record audio. Recording audio by default can lead to… surprises.
