Maps recent searches keep coming back

I have repeatedly deleted recent searches in Maps on my Mac (running Ventura 13.3.1(a)) but they always reappear when I open Maps back up again. Most of these are years old and I have tried deleting them from my iPhone, my iPad and my Mac, to no avail. Has anyone else experienced such a problem, and did you figure out how to delete them permanently?
