What to do? My Apple pencil adaptor for iPad 10 gen does not fit it's lightning port.

Just purchased , from APPLE store, a new ipad 10th gen, pencil adaptor and USB C cable. The pencil lightning port does not fit into the pencil adaptor as the adaptor lightning port depth is too deep. So, lightning port depth of adaptor far exceeds the length of the pencil lightning port. Spoke with 2 APPLE CS agent and they have no idea why.......anyone encounter this ? see video link

To my eye, it looks like a whole insert piece is missing from inside of your adapter.

Compare your image of the Ligjtning end of your adapter with the image from the online Apple Store Website image.

Clearly the adpater you have appears to be missing another part that is inserted into that adapter.

I think you have a defective adapter.

The 10th gen iPad uses a USB-C connection.

Your 1st gen Apple Pencil may have been older stock and came with the original, older, earlier charge adapter.

To use the supplied USB-C charging cable, that came with your 10th gen iPad, with your 1st gen Apple Pencil, you need to purchase this new adapter in place of the one supplied with your 1st gen Apple Pencil.

Hi there, I think you are almost right there….kudos…..till I receive my replacement in a couple of days to ascertain it. The gold plates on the side seems different/missing….attached a clearer pics. Thank you.

The APPLE adaptor was purchased a few days ago from the same store link you sent. My APPLE pencil did not come with an adaptor, purchased 1 year ago. The USB C cable came with the ipad 10th gen, also purchased last week and no issue with connecting the USB C to the USB C port of the adaptor. The issue is the lightning port of the adaptor per the video. Thanks

No mixed up. The small grey circle on the adaptor shows its for the lightning port. It is hollow for the lightning, unlike the USB port which has a middle "insert" inside. Also, the USB C fitted nicely on the other side of the adapter.
