The simplest explanation for the behavior you describe would be that you have a location-based Focus or Shortcut in effect. The page Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad describes how that can be configured:
"To use Smart Activation, which will automatically apply your Focus at relevant times throughout the day:
- Go to Settings > Focus, then tap the Focus that you want to activate automatically.
- Tap Smart Activation.
- Turn on Smart Activation.
When you turn on Smart Activation, it automatically turns on the Focus at relevant times throughout the day based on location, time, or app usage."
Another possibility would be a location-based Shortcut. Travel triggers in Shortcuts on iPhone or iPad outlines how location information can be incorporated into a Shortcut for arriving or leaving a designated location.
