iphone battery percentage doesn’t change

My iPhone 7 Plus just a couple days ago has quit updating the battery charge percentage when I charge it. When I charge it overnight, it still shows the percentage it was at when I plugged it in the night before. I use it all day, so I know it really did charge. My battery health is 100% and peak performance capability. Now my phone is showing 17 % battery. I tried resetting it after turning it off and on several times and that didn’t work my battery is less than a year old.

Hi Slcasey,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand your iPhone's battery percentage doesn't change even though it seems to be charging properly. If you have any available iOS updates, we recommend updating. Here's how if needed: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.

  1. "Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

It sounds like you've already force restarted your iPhone by following these steps: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support.

You may also want to try the steps in this article, like swapping out your cable and power adapter just to see if the battery percentage will change after doing so: If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support.

Take care.
