Apple pay

A requirement to use assistive touch to enable apple pay to work with face ID? Face recognition has worked for years, now requires me to use via assistive touch. Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere?

Hello davglen,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you’re getting prompted to confirm your Apple Pay transactions with Assistive Touch. If so we’d like to help isolate this issue and see if we can get this sorted out. Let’s start off by editing your Assistive Touch actions: Use AssistiveTouch on iPhone - Apple Support

  1. Go to Settings  > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch.
  2. Check your Custom Actions. If Apple Pay is listed, go ahead and remove it.
  3. Then go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and confirm you have Wallet & Apple Pay enabled.
  4. Restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If your issue continues, we recommend that you install any pending updates you might have available.

This can usually help with unique issues, since updates include fixes. Just in case, this link can guide you through the update process: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

1.)Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2.)Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3.)Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4.) If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5.) Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do: If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support

We hope this helps out. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Take care.
