Focus mode not showing in messages

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. We want to do whatever we can to help you out. However, want to make sure that we’re on the same page and understanding your issue correctly. That way we can recommend some troubleshooting steps. It sounds like you’re trying to use Focus but it isn’t working for your messages. If so, we’d like to try the following isolating steps: 

1.) Let's make sure that Focus is up in Settings > Focus.

2.) Tap on Do Not Disturb. You want to make sure that Apps allowed is correctly set up for Messages. If you wish to include it, add the app. If you don't want the app listed there, remove it.

3.) If everything appears correct but Focus still isn't properly working with the Messages app, try restarting your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Also, if you have any pending updates available for your device, it would be a good idea to install it.

1.)Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.

2.)Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.

3.)Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

4.) If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.

5.) Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do: If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support
