New MacBook Air - screen saver doesn't work.

Hi

I've had my Macbook Air for a week now and I can't get the screensaver to load. Any screen saver actually - nothing happens! I'm sure I'm missing something obvious!

Thanks

Hi Silver_cat

Re: New MacBook Air - screen saver doesn't work

Seems the settings for when the screen-saver shows may need adjusting.

Eg: If the settings darken the screen / Mac sleeps / (say after 10 minutes idle) before the screen saver is set to begin (say after 15 mins idle), you won't ever see the screen saver.

Now the two articles below are for MacOS Ventura:

(For accurate info: you can change the MacOS at the top of each article if you are using an earlier MacOS version.)

Change Screen Saver settings on Mac – Apple Support

Eg: says

"To change how long your Mac can be inactive before the screen saver starts, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Lock Screen  in the sidebar and choose settings on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) See Change Lock Screen settings."

And the settings for when the screen dims / Mac sleeps:

Set sleep and wake settings for your Mac – Apple Support

says

"Set your Mac to go to sleep after inactivity

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Lock Screen  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Do any of the following:

✽. Click the pop-up menu next to “Turn display off on battery when inactive” on the right, then choose an option.

✽. Click the pop-up menu next to “Turn display off on power adapter when inactive” on the right, then choose an option."

All the best :-)
