Possibilities:

• You are wearing an Watch paired with the iPhone (text alerts will go to the watch instead of the phone)
• The Mute switch on the left side of the phone near the top is in Mute position (showing orange when you look at it)
• You have Do Not Disturb or some other Focus enabled
• You don’t have a sound assigned to text alerts

Well, if you have really checked all of the items I listed; that is, you DO NOT have an Apple watch, The Mute switch is TOWARDS the screen, when you open the Control Center the Focus button is not illuminated, and you went to Settings/Sounds & Haptics and you see a sound assigned to Text Tone, then your phone is broken. Contact Apple Support using the Support link at the top or bottom of this page, and discuss repair options.
