VW Arteon and Passat wireless QI charger not working with iphone 11, 12, 13, 14
Hi,
Recently received my new VW Arteon (2020 facelift model) withan OEM wireless charging bay installed by the manufacturer; just behind the gearselector, below the AC panel.
When placing any iphone 11 or newer on the charging pad, even without a cover, the phone is recognized and starts charging. Within 5 seconds, it stops and a warning message is displayed on the central display, instructing you to remove any foreign objects. This process repeats itself every several seconds, but the message remains on the screen until you click it away. This renders the charging compartment even useless for just storing the phone, since it will trigger the warning message on the display all the time.
When asking VW about this; they confirmed this problem, blaming apple for modifying the arrangement of the induction receivers in the iphone. This apparently causes turbulent currents in the inductive waves, or something like that.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Since the car already has a wireless charger, i cant find any aftermarket chargers from other brands that are designed to fit this vehicle.
much appreciated!
iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 16
