Apple Watch fades away into red while charging

I had just put my Apple Watch back to charge after not using it for a few months and once I connected it the apple logo appeared for a bit but then it just faded away into red and it’s been doing this on a loop endlessly. Is there a fix to this?

Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for a battery service. When a Lion battery remains discharged for an extended time, they tend to die and can't be brought back to life. If you don't plan to use your Apple Watch for months, it should be kept charged to at least 50%.

You're going to need to pay for a battery service.
