A beeping sound from your iMac can indicate a hardware issue or a problem with the system. Here are a few possible causes and steps you can take to resolve the beeping issue:
1. Check the RAM: Beeping sounds can occur if the RAM (random-access memory) modules are not properly seated in their slots. Try resetting the RAM by turning off your iMac, unplugging it from the power source, opening the RAM compartment, and then removing and reinserting the RAM modules firmly. Ensure they are properly aligned and securely in place.
2. Check for hardware errors: The beeping sound might be a result of a hardware problem. Resetting the system's management controller (SMC) can sometimes help. To reset the SMC, shut down your iMac, disconnect the power cord, wait for about 15 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn on the iMac.
3. Verify peripheral connections: Check if any peripherals such as USB devices, external hard drives, or printers are properly connected to your iMac. Sometimes, a loose or faulty peripheral connection can trigger the beeping sound. Disconnect all peripherals and reconnect them one by one, testing for the beeping sound after each connection.
4. Check the display connections: If your iMac has an external display, ensure that the video cable connecting the iMac and the display is securely connected. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to see if the beeping stops.
5. Seek professional assistance: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's advisable to contact Apple Support or visit an authorized service center. They can diagnose the problem accurately and provide appropriate solutions or repairs.
It's worth noting that iMac models may have different beep codes, each indicating a specific hardware issue. If you can identify the pattern of the beeps (e.g., the number and duration of the beeps), it can help in determining the cause of the problem more precisely. Consult Apple's support documentation or contact their support team for further guidance based on the specific beep pattern you're experiencing.
Thanks. I have tried reseating the modules several times - no difference. I even changed the slots.
Unfortunately, I live in The Bahamas and we do not have any local Apple Stores nor authorized dealers. It will cost me a flight to Florida to the nearest Apple Genius Bar!

Oh also it’s a iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
where do I purchase new compatible RAM?
The majority of long time ASC users recommend OWC or Crucial.
