Apple music downloads lossless, very low quality

I've been using Apple music to supplement my music collection for years when people make requests at bars if i don't have the song. It's been fine, if a little clunky, but the files I've been getting lately are significant smaller in size and are noticeably lower quality. I have lossless chosen for my download, but I'm still getting very low quality audio. Is there a fix for this?

Hey cramitsucko,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Using the Music equalizer, adjusting the sound quality may help. For more details about using the Music equalizer click here: Adjust the sound quality in Music on Mac or use the steps below.

1. In the Music app  on your Mac, choose Window > Equalizer.
2. Do one of the following:
* Choose a preset option from the pop-up menu.
* Drag the frequency sliders up or down to increase or decrease the volume of a frequency (in decibels).
5. The equalizer’s settings apply to all songs until you change the settings, except for songs that have equalizer presets assigned to them
6. Select On to turn on the equalizer.
The Equalizer window: The checkbox to turn on the Music equalizer is in the top-left corner. Next to it is the pop-up menu with the equalizer presets. On the far left side, adjust the overall volume of frequencies with the preamp. Below the equalizer presets, adjust the sound level of different frequency ranges, which represent the spectrum of human hearing from lowest to highest.

Take care.

Is that the only solution? Is there no way to actually download lossless files from Apple Music? While I appreciate the advice, it’s not a solution that really works for someone actually djing and taking love requests. I’m essentially forced to use apply music due to lack of pop availability from other platforms and ease of payment and immediate downloads.

mid really like to know why the file sizes are so small compared to any other music files I get from all other sources, and why the sound quality is at a baseline so poor when played on a large system?
