Google requires completing authentication in your web browser.

I've just reset my iCloud password but now a few of my mail accounts have little ''not linked'' icons next to them. When I click on the 'circle with a little wavy line) a message pops up saying: enter the PW for the account XX Google requires completing authentication in your web browser.

TWO options 1)cancel 2) Open Browser, when I click 2 another block appears and there is a whirring circle, but NOTHING happens?? Please advise how to get this reconnected?

I've already quit mail and restarted it - nothing changes

I've already logged into these various accounts via google and safari but still nothing happens in mail

Please advise how to sort.

Hi MANUKONDO,

Thanks for trying those steps. Next, let's ensure that your macOS is updated using the steps found here: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support This can often resolve abnormal behavior such as you're experiencing.

If the same behavior occurs, test in a newly created admin user account which can help us rule out any issues with settings or files that can be contributing: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

Lastly, you can also try a different browser. While we know that clicking on the link automatically opens the browser, you'd need to change the default web browser using the steps here to complete this step: Change the default web browser or email app on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know the results.

Cheers.

Hey MANUKONDO,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If you haven't already, we recommend restarting the MacBook Pro. Restarting has been known to resolve software related issues. To restart, follow the steps below or here: Shut down or restart your Mac.

* On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Restart.
If you don’t want app windows that are open to reopen when your Mac restarts, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in.”

Äter restarting, try accessing the email accounts again. You should get the option to enter the password that that account.

Hope this helps. Take care.
