How do I get the check mark off an old method onto my a new payment method ?

Great question! You can choose to add your new payment method, then make it default, then go ahead and remove the old payment method. If you have multiple payment methods, you can select your default payment method and it should leave a checkmark on the default payment. See these helpful articles below:

You can also click the blue 'Edit' payment methods as shown on the article above. When signed in and the page loads, you will be on the credit card page. After updating that, click the 'Go Back' button at the lower left and you will be on the address page. If you have a subscription, you need to add the new card, and then promote it to the primary payment method before you can remove the old card.
