Control centre for airplay speakers not showing

I nearly always play apple music from my mac (MBA M2) thru my sonos one speakers. Using airplay.

But when I try to see (or control) those speakers (pause, skip, stop) from my ipad/iphone using control centre. I can something is going on with my sonos speaker and it asks me "tap to connect" but it never connects through control centre on an IOS device?

Same network, apple ID, etc.

Is this because of a macOS vs IOS difference???? Or some security setting I can't figure out on the Mac. They are all using Airplay? Airplay is Airplay isn't it????

I notice that if I use the Sonos app open my iPhone/Ipad I have no problems (IE I can pause, skip, stop). But why not using control centre on the same device. Maybe this is some apple vs Sonos thing.

If it can't be done, fine, someone tell me and I'll stop wasting time on it.

Hi Cromiriark,

Thanks for reaching out on Apple Support Communities! We'd be happy to take a look at this with you. To get started, let's follow the steps listed here: If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay-compatible device - Apple Support These are great general steps that can help when things aren't working as they should with AirPlay.

Let us know if that helps.

Kindest regards!

Hey Cromiriark,

It sounds like everything is working normally through the Sonos app, so if the issue is with Sonos not working as expected with Control Center on your iOS devices, this might be a better quetsion to ask Sonos about to determine what’s expected or if they recommend only using the Sonos app in this scenario to control things. For help contacting them, visit: Help and Support | Sonos

We hope this helps out.

Take care!

Thanks for your suggestions. I've read the material you refer to.

I'm not sure this is a mirroring issue. I see it as a control centre/airplay issue. The macOS initiated music playing on the airplay speakers doesn't show in my IOS control centre (like it does if I initiated it from my ipad, my iPhone sees it in that control centre). Mind you I can't see an Ipad airplay session in my Mac control centre either.

Maybe this is not supposed to work at all.....
