final cut keeps freezing

As of the past week or so, FCPX keeps freezing, (spinning circle) shortly after launch. Whenever I start to do something, it goes into spin cycle and has to be forced quit. I don't know what to do to fix this, as this is a recent occurrence.

The report shows several potential problems.

You're running macOS 13.3.1, which was a critical security update and did not go through the typical user testing process. It has been found to break FCP's Audio Unit validation process. I see in the report you have an audio plugin (DigiartyBackgroundMusicDevice) so it's possible this is the issue. Remove the plugin from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (or rename the Components folder to something like Components.ignore) and launch FCP.

If it still doesn't launch then the other items in the report might be the cause. You have installed Clean My Mac, which is apparently very aggressive about what it deletes and can damage macOS, requiring a reformat and reinstall. You can start by uninstalling it.

You also have Chrome and its evil keystone software. This is known to break the Mac video toolbox and damage FCP. See https://chromeisbad.com for instructions on how to completely remove all the files that are scattered across the drive. Simply trashing Chrome.app is not enough. Afterwards, move FCP to the trash and reinstall from the App Store.

No, libraries are store separately from the FCP application. Libraries are typically stored in your Movies folder and end with the suffix .fcpbundle, like MyAwesomeVideo.fcpbundle.

Did you follow the instructions at the link above to remove the keystone files, not just the Chrome.app?

One other thing you can try: whenever FCP starts behaving strangely or crashes, delete its preferences. Hold command and option while launching FCP and then choose Delete Preferences... FCP will launch and open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, reset the preferences the way you like (disable background render, etc.) and see if things behave better.
