Hi briwarr74,

With the information that you provided, there are a few possible explanations for the lack of wireless charging that you're experiencing:

1) Your AirPods charging case may not have wireless charging capabilities. Per Charge AirPods (all generations) or AirPods Pro (all generations):

  • "Wireless charging case: For AirPods (2nd generation) or AirPods (3rd generation) with a wireless charging case, or AirPods Pro (all generations), place the case with the status light facing up on the center of a MagSafe wireless charger or a Qi-certified charger.

If you have AirPods Pro (2nd generation), you can also place the case with the status light facing up on the center of an Apple Watch wireless charger."

Some models are sold with only a wired charging case and the option for wireless charging may need to be configured during purchase or bought separately.

2) Your charging case may have Optimized Charging enabled. From Charge your AirPods and learn about battery life:

"Optimized Battery Charging is designed to reduce the wear on your battery and improve its lifespan by reducing the time that your AirPods Pro and AirPods (3rd generation) spend fully charged. AirPods Pro, AirPods (3rd generation), and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch learn from your daily charging routine and will wait to charge your AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation) past 80% until just before you need to use them."

3) Your case or wireless charging mat may require service. As described in If your AirPods won’t charge:

"If you have the Wireless Charging Case for your AirPods or AirPods Pro and you're using a Qi-compatible charger, place the case with the status light facing up. The status light should turn on for several seconds, then turn off while continuing to charge. If the light doesn't turn on, reposition the case. If your case still isn't charging, try charging with the cable that came with your case...If you still can’t charge your AirPods, contact Apple Support."

Regards.
