Apple Podcasts are fading to a pause when I open a game and won’t play in the background

We'd like to help by learning more about what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

1. You mentioned this began only yesterday on your iPad, but do you recall what you were doing on your iPad right before this began to occur? For example: any settings changed, after an update, etc.
2. Does this occur with any media you're playing upon opening a game app, or does it only occur while playing a podcast?
3. Since you have a compatible iPad model, the latest version is iPadOS 16.4.1(a). You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.

I’m having the exact same issue. I play a card game while listening to podcasts. I’ve always been able to do that until I updated to 17.0. Why??!
