How many GB make a TB?

Strictly speaking, in computing, capacity and storage are measured as units of 1024 - so 1024MB = 1GB and 1024GB = 1TB.

As mentioned by Niel , some manufacturers (Apple included) instead use decimal measurements instead of binary/hexidecimal - and effectively round-down to 1000s from 1024. As such, Apple’s marketing literature define 1000MB as 1GB - and 1000GB as 1TB.


When using decimal as the basis for measuring computer storage, you effectively have ~3% less storage.
