How to schedule text messages on iPhone

We can schedule text messages and more on iPhone. I did on iOS 16.4.1

Please follow the following steps

  1. Go to shortcuts app
  2. Select Automation window
  3. Create personal automation
  4. Time of the day
  5. Choose the event type(daily, weekly, monthly)
  6. Click next
  7. Select action send message (do check out their various convenient actions by clicking “+” and section “all actions”)
  8. Click on “message” to input message
  9. Click on “recipients” to select receiver of the message
  10. Click next and disable “Ask before sending
  11. Click done.
  12. This automation will have to be manually deleted in order to end its occurrences.

Hope y’all find it helpful! ✌🏽

This is insanely complicated compared to android. I just switched and I like iPhone but I don’t understand what Apple is thinking here. Anyone know if this feature is in the pipeline? I used to schedule texts on android but this shortcut seems circa 1990.

I NEED to be able to schedule texts to be sent during MOST people’s waking hours. I compose my texts around midnight and NEED to post them to be sent (and not WAKE) the reandom person I am texting.

Then you NEED to buy a different kind of phone.

This is unbelievably lame. Just stick a "Send later" feature in the Messages app.

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user technical support forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

It has been my observation that the people saying that a feature change in a complex system like iOS would be "simple" or would just need one thing added are usually people without programming or app development experience.

Thank you for these tips, Muhurt! I am sure we all appreciate your hard work. If you want to be able to give official tips, you should browse the community and give help to the people who haven't gotten any answers yet. While leveling up, you will also be helping people who need it.

Once again, thank you. Have an amazing day! :)

Hi, so I’m an android user for me you simply go to Google messages, select new type in the phone number go down to the message box type in your text message hold down the send button and this little calendar pops up what time and date to select to schedule a message. You select your time select your date and then you hit send. I don’t know what those instructions are is like I’m setting up a whole automated system. I want to be able to schedule just like that. I don’t want to have to set up a whole automated system to send a schedule text message at 8 AM to every client. I’m seeing the next morning. Why can’t Imessaqes do that?

Not having a “ SIMPLE” way to schedule a text or set an alarm for specific days/ times on a calendar is TOTALLY INSANE Apple, Why?🤔😳

Being an Android user all my cell phone life ( I just purchased my first iPhone in February) not having this feature on a new iPhone 15 Plus is such a step back!

Also modifying a text message with “ copy, paste, autofill the way it’s set up is not necessary!

Apple, I must have had a faint dream about you announcing a scheduled text message feature. Maybe I’m just thinking of when you announced the edit text feature? Idk… i’m just really sad now cuz I kinda need it and am realizing you don’t have it yet…

Apple doesn't participate here. If you want them to know your thoughts, use the feedback link:

But, no, Apple hasn't announced such a feature.

Is Apple considering the implementation of a feature for scheduling text messages within the Messages/Shortcuts app shortly?

No one here in this user-to-user forum would know the answer to that. And, Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:
