Exporting videos to use in Final Cut Pro

I was struggling to figure out why my videos became so contrasty and bright when I exported them from Photos to use in FCP. Finally today, after reading numerous "fixes" on threads, I tried simply exporting the videos as "unmodified originals" and they import perfectly into FCP. I hope this helps.

The problem is probably not the format but whether the videos were recorded in HDR or not.

I have been struggling to figure out how to send videos captured on my iPhone 13 (or earlier) to Final Cut Pro without the footage becoming way too contrasty and overexposed. I set my iPhone to not capture on the new HEIC format and this has helped. Today while putting together a simple Mother's Day video I was able to export my non-HEIC video footage as "Unmodified Original Video" clips and they imported correctly into FCP. But any footage captured in the HEIC I can not seem to import without it becoming too contrasty and too bright. Any suggestions?
