Photos 8 Glitchy Behaviour
I recently switched from Intel/Monterey to M2/Ventura and I'm seeing some unexpected behaviour from Photos 8. My system library is completely new and filled from iCloud with all my previous content, which is fine.
Now, I am importing a stock of old DNG Raw files little by little, continuing a project to edit/export them all to JPEG, which the previous Photos did surprisingly well.
The previous Photos application had its share of annoyances but I found a way around them - I don't know yet how many of those issues persist in Photos 8 because there seem to be some new ones to deal with. So far, they include:
• edit selection tools (such as curves, white balance, retouch etc.) suddenly change to a cursor/pointer.
• some keyboard commands stop working altogether (such as the 'full stop' for adding to favourites, which I use in lieu of a reject tag, STILL not provided in Photos).
The only way to remedy these issues is to quit and reopen Photos - fortunately, this is as quick as a flash with M2, as I have to do it once every 3 or 4 edits on average.
I wondered if my keyboard might be part of the commands problem - I've always used a Japanese keyboard with GB layout, but it doesn't seem to matter if I set a Japanese, US or generic ABC layout, the issue persists.
I repaired the library, but that didn't help. Now I wonder if other users have experienced similar issues with Photos 8, or if anyone can suggest what the problem might be.
