Connecting multiple monitors to 2023 Macbook Pro (Apple M2 Pro) Daisy Chain

Hi Apple Experts,

I struggle to connect multiple monitors to Macbook Pro 16-inch 2023 Apple M2 Pro. I have a new Dell U2421E. It has 1x Thunderbolt in, 1xDisplay port in, and 1x Display port Out. I tried connecting the monitors in the following fashion.

Macbook Pro type-c TB <--> Monitor 1 Thunderbolt In with MST ON, DisplayPort Out <--> Monitor 2, DisplayPort IN, MST OFF.

This setup only mirrors Monitor 1 display on Monitor 2. Do I need to do anything else? Does MacBook Pro Apply M2 Pro support multiple monitors with Thunderbolt and Display port combination?

Any support is highly appreciated.

Thanks for your time and support,

To support multiple displays on one cable out of the Mac:

the cable must be a genuine thunderBolt cable.

you appear to be using the correct cable to support that.

AND the first device (Dock or Display) must be a genuine Thunderbolt device.

that Dell U2421E display is a USB-C display with a 1920 by 1200 resolution and inputs:

• DisplayPort (DisplayPort 1.4 mode)

• HDMI (HDCP 1.4)

• USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 upstream/DisplayPort 1.4 (power up to 90W)

USB-C input is not good enough, (because it has only HALF the data capacity of a genuine ThunderBolt input) -- not good enough to support an additional display at the standard the Mac requires.
