How to reset My Passport

I just deleted some files from the old back-ups folder and now ( I believe), because of that it keeps telling me "...preparing for back up"

I would prefer just to reset my Passport to zero, how can I do?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

if you are referring to an external hard disk drive, configure Time Machine to no longer use it using the Time Machine control panel, then use Disk Utility to reformat and erase the hard disk drive.
