How to change passcode

My daughter has an iPhone SE, we had changed her passcode a long time ago but we are trying to change her passcode again because our neighbor watched her and knows it and had gotten in her phone. We can not find the option anywhere. I have googled it so many times and everything says the same thing. She does not have face recognition so we don’t have that option. She should have the Touch ID and passcode option under settings and it is not there. Can someone please explain?

The reason you might not see the Touch ID & Passcode option is you may have Screen Time turned on. Go to Settings > Screen Time and shut it off after scrolling to the bottom. You can turn it back on after your Passcode is changed.

Troubleshooting a Locked iPhone:

So, contact Apple Support. Refer to the following...

Hold It Right There!:

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

Being Locked Out...

How to Unlock a Locked iPhone:

If you are locked out, then contact Apple Support. This is a theft deterrent. So, if you do not have the original proof of purchase (i.e. sales receipt or original packing), then you may not be able to get back in. So, set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, you'd bring along a proof of purchase (i.e. sale receipt or original packaging) and the iPhone, itself.

Apple Support Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Being suspicious of eaves dropping, you need to secure your accounts. So, start with verifying your devices, and then Monday your credentials.

A. Verify your Devices:

Verify that all device are logged in to your account, by using this link: Check your Apple ID Device List to See where you're Signed in - Apple Support

B. Modify your Credentials:

Having been stollen, someone lily has your credentials. So, by all means, modifying them.

Thank you for the reply. We do have 2 step authentication turned on. My daughter is only 10 and the neighbor is even younger but he spends a good bit of time at my home. He will pick up her phone and get into it because he knows her passcode and also told my son what it is. We are not concerned about them buying stuff with it but we want the passcode to get into the phone changed. 😁

"YES I have access but the device does not have the option under settings to change the passcode. That’s the problem."

Have any Proof of Purchase?

Unless you have the original packaging and receipt, you may be out of luck. If you do have it, however, then take this to an Apple Store, or an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider)! and they may be able to restore it. The reason for this blockage is all about Security & Privacy.
