Iphone Keyboard + External Mouse

I bought a mouse for my Iphone that I connect via the lightning adaptor. When I use the mouse with my Iphone it works, however, the keyboard no longer shows up on the screen of my phone. I do not have an external keyboard and want the keyboard on screen to still show up. How do I fix this?
