Iphone software updates

My iphone 7 will not allow me to update the software data I need to sync my apple watch I bought. I updated the latest version 15.7.5, but the apple watch says it needs ios 16 to sync/pair. How do I get the latest software update if my phone doesn't offer it?

You don’t. You need a newer phone. The watch requires a phone running ios 16. That means an iPhone 8 or newer.
