When in "Concentration mode - Sleeping" all callers hear my line is busy!

This is very strange situation. When I enable "concentratrion mode - sleeping" everyone who calls me hears like my line is busy at the moment. (I dont hear anything ofcourse since all is muted etc.). This is not the way it should be obviously, they should simply hear that Im not answering to the call.

This is very bad, because then the person naturally calls back again and again and again, hoping that "my call has ended". I end up having dozens of call from people because they all keep calling me back again and again.

What is causing this? How to solve?

No, no setting in that mode has anything to do with this and I wonder how this is even possible, since I understand that "line is busy" mode is done at the ISP end, not the phones end...but apparently it is not - or is it? How is this possible?!?!?!?

Hello mmjans,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you.

The most likely cause for this is an incorrect setting in the Sleep Focus or there's an issue with your voicemail.

Have you confirmed that everything is set up correctly for voicemail with your cellular provider? If not, this is a great place to start.

If you haven't done so yet, double check your Sleep Focus settings to see if they are set up as recommended in Set up a schedule for a Sleep Focus in Health on iPhone - Apple Support.

If everything is confirmed correct for voicemail by your cellular provider and you don't see any issues with how your Sleep Focus is set up, then contacting Apple Support for additional guidance is best. You can reach them directly at Get Support.

Best regards.

As expected? By who? By Apple? Certainly not by me!

I expect:

1) Not to forcefully have my calls diverted without my EXPLICIT order.

2) If a call is made to a number that does not work (like my voicemail) then it should simply prevent the call / shut it off / or make it sound like its "working ok" - not that "line is busy" since the line is NOT busy.

This is a clear bug in the iPhone's phone application and it needs to fixed, since everyone who does not have a voicemail is suffering from this. The least that could be done is made it possible NOT TO divert calls to voicemail.

Also, no, the solution is NOT to "just dont use the sleep mode", because if I dont use the sleep mode, I cant get any meaningfull data from my iWatch, since it only record certain data when I have enabled sleep mode. And no, I cant put the iWatch into sleep mode without also putting the iPhone onto sleeping mode. So this is NOT A SOLUTION.

Anyway, if this is the way it really works, then it is a bug in iPhone Phone app and should be fixed ASAP since many people are suffering from this and it and there is nothing that users can do to help this issue to bypass it somehow etc.

Sleep vocus schedule is off, I manually set sleep vocus on when I go to sleep and set if off when I wake up.

If you don't have voice mail, this is what will happen when you activate Sleep Focus (or any focus) whether you activated it manually or on a schedule. Your phone is behaving as expected.

I think you misunderstand the term “bug”. It means an unexpected error. This is not that It’s something you don’t like.

You can let Apple know what you’d like to see here:

Those to things are functionally the same. In neither case are you answering calls.

My voicemail message is "I'm not available now and I don't listen to voice mails so don't leave one. Send me a text." It works out just fine.

You can either keep complaining or you can figure out how to get what you currently have to work. And, if you're going to complain, at least do it where Apple will hear it. Use the feedback link.

ROTFLOL! No, they are not. Lets go throught this again:

  1. Not answering is not the same as "Im having a (n other) call right now".
  2. If not answering the call and "Im having a call right now" where "functionally the same", why do they have the different respond tone to the caller? Like, really, why? Why? Why all the operators in the world have different respond to the caller in these two cases?
  3. When Im having call right now it actually means, that I can receive calls right now, because Im actually receiving one right now, like, literrally now. This again means to the caller, that could call back to me soon, since apparently Im able to receive calls about now.
  4. When Im not aswering to the call, it actually means that Im not answering calls now and who ever called me should not call me back ASAP because its very unlikely that I will be answering he's calls in the next minute any way, because Im apparently busy doing something else.
  5. Going to sleep does not mean my line is busy, it does not mean that Im on phone with someone else.

My voicemail message is "I'm not available now and I don't listen to voice mails so don't leave one. Send me a text." It works out just fine.

As I have already explained to you and you do not seem to understand is, that I do not have a voicemail and Im not getting a voice mail, in fact, Im pretty sure my ISP does not even have an voice mail service.

You can either keep complaining or you can figure out how to get what you currently have to work.

Yes, I have realised how to make it so, that my phone does not tell everyone that Im busy with other call / try to forcefully divert all my calls to my non-existent voicemail without my approval:

  • Get an Android phone, where I can actually control these things and not Apple who mess things up like this one.

No. I dont live in 1980:s thank you.

My line is NOT BUSY when Im sleeping. My line is "I'm not answering to call(s)". If Apple makes it sound like my line is busy, then it is a bug.

Think for a moment, that when you where standing, Apple would divert all your calls to nearest toilet and say, that sure you must be there since you are standing, and this is a feature, not a bug, how would you like it? Just go to toilet when you stand if you dont like it!
