Realtek 815XEthernet Driver "No User Consent"

I have a 2019 16" MBP and my Ethernet dongle will only function if I disconnect and reconnect. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that this dongle also connects two displays and 2 hard disks & a sound card, causing my system to take a few minutes to settle after unplugging and re-plugging.

When my MBP boots from shutdown, or restart, the driver does not load and I get this error:

ZYM2ETK3E7 - com.realtek.driver.AppleRTL815XEthernet:

 Version: 1.0.22

 Reason: No User Consent

 Date Disabled: Unknown

  • I reset my PRAM and this did not correct the issue.
  • I attempted to re-install the driver package, and there was no prompt for the user to give consent.
  • I cannot find a way to give this driver consent to run.

Any ideas?

Good afternoon LFrisk,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you are having an issue with the ethernet adapter on your RealTek hub.

Have you tried using a dedicated ethernet adapter instead of the RealTek hub to test?

Apple USB Ethernet Adapter

Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Otherwise, you may need to reach out to RealTek for help with their hardware device.

Take care.

Hi LFrisk,

Thanks for letting us know we needed to share a different link, and the additional details.

There are USB-C to Ethernet adapters available.

We do still ask that you try using a dedicated ethernet adapter instead of the RealTek hub to test for troubleshooting purposes.

You will want to reach out to Realtek support for assistance with their device. We did find this link to help get you pointed in the right direction: Technical Suport - REALTEK. If you still need help, reach back out and let us know what steps and suggestions were tried with Realtek support.

Take care!

I purchased a Belkin Thunderbolt 4 dock with 10/100/1000 NIC. This device performs just like my Realtek NIC in that it functions when I plug it in to my macbook pro that is currently logged in. If I restart the machine, it does not load the NIC connection. I have to unplug the cable and re-plug the cable to get this to work.

Any thoughts as to why my MBP doesn't load USB 10/100/1000 NICs up on power up, restart, wake from sleep, or lock window?

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately both of the solutions you sent me are for the older model MBP (2014/2015 era). I have the 16" with 4 USB-C ports.

The ethernet adapter on the Realtek hub works fine during regular use, with the exception of when I:

  1. Restart my computer
  2. Startup from shutdown
  3. Log in from being signed out.

All other ports on the hub work fine, the LAN however, is not launched due to macOS displaying the "no user consent" error as I mentioned in my previous post.

Once I unplug, and re-plug the adapter, the LAN fine...indicating that something in macOS is not allowing the driver to launch upon login.
