My hard drive folder and SSD are not showing up on desktop

1mac 2017 os ventura 13.0.1

My hard drive folder and SSD are not showing up on desktop. I have run disk utility on both, no change. I can access them when I got to finder/go/applications.

First, you are way behind on macOS updates, so please update Ventura to the latest version which is 13.3.1(a).

Are you referring to the internal or external drive(s)?

If external, then please provide the exact make & model of those drives and the file system used on them. Plus are you using any third party software to manage the external drives?

Do you have iCloud enabled for the Desktop? I'm not sure if this would affect seeing the drives on the Desktop or not since I don't use iCloud.

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference. If Safe Mode works to show the drive, then it most likely means you have some third party software installed which is interfering with the normal operation of macOS.
