MacBook pro 2011

I have a macbook pro 2011, every time I use the internet recovery and go through erasing the hard drive and then go to install Lion OS. It gives me the same response " this copy of the install Mac OS X lion application is damaged, and cant be used to install Mac OS X"

how do I fix this, I don't want another computer.

has anyone had this issue, and have you figured a way to fix it?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

That error message is Apple's cryptic way of telling you the installer's certificate is expired. Try setting the system date & time to Jan. 2, 2017 @ 11:33am by launching the Terminal app located on the Utilities menu on the menu bar:

date -u 0102113317

If this doesn't work, then change the date to an earlier year. Change from 2017 to 2013.

See if you can boot into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R which theoretically should give the online macOS 10.13 High Sierra installer assuming macOS 10.12.6+ was previously installed at some point in the past. Unfortunately some Macs will only be access the online installer for the OS which originally shipped with the Mac, in that case try changing the system date & time as I described.

You can try to install via a bootable installer

This article explains how:

Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

It is a bit technical, and you will need another mac, and an external drive or memory stick (that can be erased)

For a Macbook pro 2011 you would want to install High Sierra
