icloud symbol

I have an icloud symbol with a check mark inside of it. What does that mean?

iPad Air, iOS 9

Hi Landman1200,

Thanks for clarifying further. When you see the cloud icon with the arrow, that indicates it is in iCloud and not stored locally. When you see the cloud icon with a green checkmark, this indicates it has been downloaded to your device from iCloud.

Hey there Landman1200,

Where are you seeing this icon? The source of the icon will help point you in the right direction. However, normally the cloud icon refers to the status of the file in regards to iCloud. A cloud with a check mark would imply the file has been downloaded or stored locally on the device you're seeing it on.

I am using a video analysis program for the softball hitting lessons I have been giving. The analysis program is loaded on my ipad. When I load a video to review, I get a cloud symbol with a down arrow. After I click on the video and review it, I get a cloud symbol with a check mark. From your response, do I understand you correctly that the videos are being stored on my ipad and not in the cloud as I originally thought? In full disclosure, I am not tech savvy at all.
