Hey LieberFreiAlsVerappled,
It looks like you checked out the article that goes over more information about Rapid Security Responses. What scientific software are you referring to? Is it a third-party software? If yes, we recommend that you reach out to the developer for more information.
If it's built-in macOS software, then we suggest you leave a feedback about this to Apple here: Product Feedback - Apple
We hope this was helpful!
Best regards.
FWIW, This question seems to be well beyond the scope of these forums. You could try posting in the developer forum. Better still open a developer account and post there. Just my opinion.

I am myself a co-developer of the research software in question.
It is a complex software, and it will take us time to find out what is happening. Possibly, some numeric code is ill-conditioned so that minor changes in floating-point computations get grossly amplified. In the meantime, I would be very grateful for any hint

You're welcome. I guess I would say the link I posted is more for casual developers, compared to those in The Apple Developer Program.
Thanks. What is the difference between the two options you proposed: "posting in the developer forum" vs opening "a developer account and post there"? Where is "there"?
