Something is wrong with my message forwarding suddenly: why does my Mac not want to pass on replies to MMS and SMS messages?

I text a lot from both my Macbook Pro (which has no phone) and my iPhone, and I had all my messages to the phone forwarded to the Mac and vice versa. iMessage, SMS, and MMS were all forwarded to the Mac and could be answered from the Mac. All of a sudden, while all three types of messages people send me are still forwarded to my Mac, only answers to the iMessages from my Mac go threw to the person who texted me, and my answers to all forwarded SMS and MMS messages fail and do not go threw from my Mac. I get notified from my Mac that the message failed and was not delivered, and also my answer doesn't show up on the iPhone either. It's like when it comes to SMS and MMS messages my iPhone can talk to the Mac, but the Mac cannot reply to anything but iMessages.

I figure I must have unknowingly screwed up a setting or maybe an iOS or OS update reset something. Does anyone know what I can do to restore full forwarding?

Found the main problem. Had to sign out of Apple ID in iMessages “send & receive” tab, then sign back in. Now “Text message forwarding” is a visible setting option.

Glad to hear you got it figured out. Yes, that sometimes seems to be what you need to do.
