CarPlay isn’t disconnecting, home WiFi does not connect automatically

There was an old thread from 2022 that I found in searching for answer to my problem which was exactly this - "My iPhone 13 is connected to CarPlay while I am driving, however when I get home and turn my car off and exit my phone won’t go back to my home Wi-Fi. If I click on my wifi button to connect it ask me if I want to disconnect from CarPlay. I choose disconnect, but it instantly disregards that and wont let me connect to wifi."

There was no solution offered. This was an issue for my wife's iphone 13 and Hond CRV. . Because of this she went over her cellular data limit as she did not notice that her phone remained on LTE when at home, rather than WiFi. I tried many things to correct this odd behaviour including network reset (x2), reboot iPhone 13 (x2), connect phone to car via bluetooth (x3), forget car in CarPlay, bluetooth cet, add car in each.. very frustrating.

Finally, I went to the Honda CRV (2023) infotainment, General settings> System> reset to factory settings.

All good now. Rare problem it seems but this is the only solution that worked. Hope this helps someone.
