Unused / Used Media Ranges so buggy

Hi, I want to delete unused media to reduce project size. It's about 100gb to 10gb.

I found the video on how it was supposed to work. But I get a mess in FCPX 10.6.5

When I delete unused media, all clip doesn't show in the "All Clip" tab:

However, when I go to the "Unused" tab, I find all my used clips.

And when I use "Reveal in Browser," it shows up in the "All Clip" tab.

So what is going on here?

You can’t delete just part of a clip.

Rather than trying to delete unused media, delete generated media - render files, proxy and optimized. This will recover a lot more space and it’s stuff that you don’t need, anyway.

Select the library in the browser sidebar, and go to

File->Delete Generated Library Files…

Close the library or quit FCP and check how much space you have just recovered. You may be pleasantly surprised.

To elaborate on my previous reply a bit:

when you delete a clip, it is not actually trashed if some part of it is still used.

Say you are using 5 seconds of a two minute clip.

If you select Unused, FCP will show you the remaining 1min55sec of that clip. But it is STILL just one 2min clip.

By choosing Delete, you are trying to delete the whole clip, not just the unused part.

FCP removes the clip from the browser, but it is still used in the project, so it can't be thrown out completely.

If you have long clips of which only small portions are used, you may want to look at a tool like Worx4 X:
