Split Keyboard on iPad is Missing Icons

Suddenly don't have usual icons on the Split Keyboard (Copy; Paste; Undo; etc.). They've always been top left above qwert keys. iPad 7th gen. Most current iOS version.

If your iPad isn’t working as expected, try a forced restart - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:


Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.



Not all models of iPad support Split Keyboard. Of devices to which I have access, that do support Split Keyboard, none are capable of update to iPadOS16. As such, I’m unable to verify whether or not your observation is repeatable with the current version of iPadOS.


If you continue to experience difficulties, you might be well advised to seek assistance from Apple Support. The easiest way to initiate and manage your support cases is to use the excellent Apple Support App; if not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
