I downloaded Mysql from my Mac, but it doesn't seem to work. I think usually the two dots should be green, but they are showing red. I clicked on "Start MySQL Server and it prompts me for my root password and after entering my password nothing is still working.

I had the same problem but I was able to figure it out. The problem is the product version (download version) you were using. I have macOS monterey so it said that I had to use 8.0.34. However that did not work for me. On the MySQL download website their is an archive tab. This is the website I am talking about, https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/community/ . Click on archive and then depending on what MacOS you have will determine which version of 8.0 you will choose. I have MacOS 11.7.8 and version 8.0.28 worked for me. Hope this helps.

I faced the same issue. It worked for me by downloading MySQL 8.3.0 - arm64 and mysql-workbench-community-8.0.34-macos-arm64. I have a MacBook Pro Sonoma 14.4.1.search for it in the archive versions...hope it helps!!

There are two option in MySQL community server download, instead of 8.1.* LTS, it is better to download (the older version option) 8.0.* which is compatible.
8.3 is working on M2 but 8.4 LTS is not starting

vice versa, once i downloaded the latest Sanoma and installed it my Mac (which is on M2) started to do not support the MySQL workbench properly. As it was said above, features such as ERD Diagram, and other are not working rn.
I just tried mySQL 8.1 and it worked perfectly in Sonoma.
Did the ERD function of MySQL work with the 8.1 on Sonoma?
Did the reverse engineering work?
