random shutdowns on M1 macbook air 2020 running macos Ventura

I am on a M1 macbook air 2020 running macos Ventura (macOS Ventura 13.3.1 (22E261).

On May 9, I started experiencing random shutdowns. Since then, I've done the following:

• Restarted in safe mode and run disk first aid.
• Downloaded the latest version of Onyx and run the maintenance scripts.
• Downloaded Clean My Mac X and run all of its tools. This did find and remove a malware called "Search Marquis" that was annoying redirecting my searches to Bing instead of Google.

None of those techniques resolved the random shutdown issue.

So, I over the weekend I rebooted in safe mode and reinstalled Ventura. That didn't solve the issue either.

Having experienced a number of random shutdowns this afternoon, I did a little more research and found this thread. Rebooting in safe mode and running Apple's Diagnostics resulted in the same ALS 001 error ("There may be an issue with the ambient light sensor").

I've not noticed any issues with the sensor. As far as I can tell, the shutdowns seem to happen when the display is turned off - either by the timed setting (which I've since turned off), manually using a hot corner (also since disabled), or closing the lid.

I've been submitting error reports to Apple after each restart, but I'm at a loss as to what I could try next. Prior to May 9, I never had an issue.

Anyone have an idea of what I could try next? Unfortunately, there isn't an Apple store in my area that I could drop into.
