Safari is a web browser, not a search engine. Which search engine you choose depends on your needs and preferences. DuckDuckGo has probably the best reputation for privacy. Why don't you try the same query in each option and see what works better for you?

Go to the App Library. It's the last screen to the right. Type "Safari" into the search bar. Press and hold on the Safari icon. Select "Add to Home Screen."

Safari is not a webpage. Safari is an app, specifically a browser. And it can't be deleted from your phone. Are you having trouble finding the app?

Are you saying that you can't find the Safari app on your phone anymore? As it can't be deleted, it's there somewhere. Go to the App Library (past the rightmost Home Screen) and type Safari into the search field.

There is no Safari search engine. That's why it's not listed.

Safari is a browser. This has been explained several times in this thread. I suggest you start from the beginning and read the whole thing.

You can have more than one browser on your Mac. Chrome is the browser made by the same company that runs the Google search engine. Brave is another option that is often recommended. Download both and see which one you like.

To change your search engine, go to Settings>Safari>Search Engine and select your preferred option. Note that you can't select "Safari" as a search engine as there is no such search engine. like a custom one that’s not listed on Mac or iOS. I don’t own a MacBook, only an iPhone and there’s no option. I don’t think to change, but I was curious if there’s a way to have Siri use a custom search engine that’s not Google.

There should be an option. Settings>Apps>Safari>Search Engine. The options are Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yardex, DuckDuckGo and Ecosia.

Note that if you're using a version of iOS prior to 18, the path is Settings>Safari>Search Engine.
