AirPods Pro Apple Store Replacement

I recently went to get my AirPods Pro first gen replaced. They were part of the bad patch sold before Oct 2020. I found it curious that the first gen are no longer available to purchase but available when it came time to replace my sound issue version. I know the first gen is discontinued and only the AirPods Pro 2 are available but I guess they have the old versions only for replacements in the back?
